Everything we wish drivers knew before the crack spread

Written by the people who actually fit the glass, not a marketing department. Heat, chips, insurance rules, and the handful of decisions that decide whether you spend twenty minutes or several hundred dollars.

Three things worth knowing before you book anyone

Each of these came out of a conversation we have had with customers dozens of times. If you only read one, make it the chip and crack guide, because it is the one that saves people the most money.

Why a Tucson Summer Turns a Small Chip Into a Full Replacement

Glass expands in 108 degree heat and contracts the second your air conditioning hits it. That daily stretch is what walks a chip across your windshield while the car sits still.

Why this is worth reading

Written between appointments, not by a content agency

Most auto glass advice online is written by people who have never held a cold knife. It is vague on purpose, because vague copy never has to be right. Ours comes from technicians who spend their days in Tucson driveways, which is why it tells you when a repair is a waste of your money as readily as when it is a bargain.

We also keep it specific to Arizona. National articles about windshield cracks were largely written for climates where the enemy is freeze and thaw. Here the enemy is a 40 degree swing between a parking lot in July and the air conditioning you turn on to survive it, and that changes the advice completely.

What we tend to cover

  • How desert heat and monsoon grit actually damage glass
  • When a chip is repairable and when you are buying a windshield either way
  • Arizona insurance rules, deductibles, and who is allowed to steer your claim
  • ADAS cameras, calibration, and why the dash light appears after a replacement
  • Fleet and work vehicle glass, where downtime costs more than the part
